Kabirdham tragedy: 15 people killed after truck overturns near Bahpani village – India News

Fifteen people have been killed in a tragic incident in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district. According to media reports, it happened when a truck overturned near Bahpani village.

The victims, comprising fourteen women and one man, were part of a group of twenty-five who were returning from picking tendu leaves when the vehicle skidded off the road and into a ditch.

Eight others were injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital. It is speculated that the hilly terrain of the area contributed to the accident. A police team is currently on site and is closely investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma expressed his condolences and promised full support to the injured as well as the bereaved families affected by the tragedy.

“The news of the tragic incident in which 15 people lost their lives due to a pick-up truck overturning in Kawardha is deeply disturbing. My condolences go out to all the families who lost their loved ones in this accident,” Sharma wrote on social media platform X (formerly: Twitter).

The deputy chief minister said that the local administration is actively helping the victims of the incident.

“Under the supervision of the state government, the local administration is actively involved in providing all possible assistance to the affected individuals and their families,” he said.
