Five cars seized during police crackdown on road users – Chris Lynch Newsroom

Four cars were seized during a police action against road users on Saturday evening.

The Canterbury Police operation coincided with several ‘skid meets’ across Christchurch and the surrounding area.

Sergeant Luke Vaughan said the police operation began at the ‘Cars and Cameras’ event – a well-organised and positive gathering of car enthusiasts in Bottle Lake Forest between 5pm and 7pm.

The operation continued with monitoring subsequent journeys along the avenues around central Christchurch and vehicle movements into rural and industrial areas for planned ‘slip meets’.

Fifty violations were committed during the night, eight cars were given a green sticker and five were impounded due to persistent loss of traction as a result of previous incidents.
