Christchurch Rotary has announced the return of the city’s fireworks display at The Grange School later this year

A COMMUNITY’s popular fireworks and bonfire show will return with a bang later this year after a hiatus.

Christchurch Rotary has announced that this year’s event will take place on November 2 at Grange School in Somerford, thanks to the “generous” support of Twynham Learning.

It was previously held at Stanpit Recreation Ground until the discovery of methane gas at the site led to BCP Council closing it to events.

The exhibition was canceled earlier in 2019 due to bad weather and in 2020 due to the Covid lockdown.

Announcing the return of this year’s fireworks display, Christchurch Rotary President Peter Boardman said: “We are delighted to have this hugely beneficial event back on the calendar.

“The bonfire and fireworks event has been a cherished tradition for decades and we can’t wait to welcome back everyone who has enjoyed it in the past.”

Gareth Morris, CEO of Twynham Learning, said: “We are honored to be involved in an event that brings so much joy and benefit to the wider Christchurch community.

“The Grange School is proud to support Christchurch Rotary and their efforts to continue this much-loved tradition.”
