5 arrested for drug abuse during CCB raid on rave party | Latest news India

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Monday arrested five people on suspicion of drug abuse after raiding a party organized at GR Farmhouse near electronic city Bengaluru, police said.

The event, organized by a Hyderabad-based event planner, was attended by more than 100 people, including 25 women from Andhra Pradesh and Bengaluru, some of whom were reportedly flown in especially for the occasion (file photo)

Police said they had received noise complaints from the farm’s neighbors because the party went on outside permitted hours. The police, along with the CCB, conducted a raid at 3am.

During the raid, the CCB found a stash of drugs, including 17 MDMA tablets and cocaine. Police also recovered the identity card of an MLA from Andhra Pradesh from a luxury car parked near the venue. Police have not revealed the identity of the state lawmaker or whether the person was involved in the alleged rave party.

Electronic city police inspector K Naveen said, “The investigation is on. We have registered a case under the NDPS Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 268 (nuisance).”

He said, “The entire operation was carried out by CCB officers and falls under the jurisdiction of Hebbagodi police. We registered a case and transferred it to Hebbagodi. The FSL teams are conducting an investigation.”
