Man loses control of vehicle and crashes into store at South Mall in Allentown, Pennsylvania, police say

SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) – A man lost control of his car Monday morning and crashed into a former store on the South Mall in Allentown, Salisbury Township police said.

Salisbury Township police said they responded to the shopping center at 3300 Lehigh Street in Allentown just after 11 a.m. on a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a store.

The driver told officers he lost control of the vehicle’s accelerator and claimed it was stuck, causing his car to crash into the store, police said.

Fortunately, the store was closed and vacant at the time of the crash. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and later released, police said.

Police said no other injuries were reported.

According to the police, a gigantic supermarket will open in the future at the site where the car crashed.

Salisbury Township police are still investigating the crash.
