Karnataka makes quota mandatory for government contract jobs | India News

BENGALURU: Bringing good news for its over 75,000 remote workers, Karnataka on Monday issued an order mandating reservation of government contract jobs in all its departments, with 33% of these positions reserved for women.

This was part of the Congress manifesto announced for the Assembly elections last year. It is in line with the existing reservation policy applied to permanent government positions.

The government usually engages external agencies to provide staff for Group-C and Group-D posts. The order, issued by DPAR, states that the reservation policy will apply to outsourced jobs lasting more than 45 days and employing more than 20 people. It also states that if an employee resigns, the vacancy must be filled by someone from the same reservation category.
