The mayor of Dothan is elected to lead the statewide organization

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – Dothan Mayor Mark Saliba has been elected the new president of the Alabama League of Municipalities.

Saliba was elected president by ALM members, consisting of mayors from across Alabama, on Friday, May 17, during the business session of the League 2024 Convention and Expo. The league also selected Fairhope Mayor Sherry Sullivan as vice president.

Saliba and Sullivan will serve for a year, representing the organization’s more than 450 member cities and municipalities at local, state and federal meetings.

“I am honored to serve as the next president of the Alabama League of Municipalities, and I am eager to continue sharing the importance of municipal government with our members and the public,” Saliba said. “Being a member of ALM is like having an extra department that helps you run your cities and towns. From legislative advocacy to municipal training and a variety of membership programs, the services and activities they provide are impossible to achieve alone.”

Saliba served as vice president of the League from 2023 to 2024. He served as chairman of the League’s Committee on State and Federal Legislation from 2022 to 2023 and represented the Second Congressional District on the League’s Board of Directors.

He was first elected mayor of Dothan in 2017 and re-elected in 2021.
