Which U.S. counties are at greatest risk of wildfire damage?

Wildfires have become increasingly common in the US in recent decades. Like many other climate events, they can have a devastating effect on communities, destroying buildings and homes, closing businesses, damaging agriculture and changing the local ecology. Ultimately, with the increase in forest fires, some insurance companies have withdrawn their services from specific areas as the risk of damage increases.

To help identify where wildfires are most common and where residents are most at risk, SmartAsset evaluated the latest FEMA data to rank U.S. counties based on their projected financial losses per person per year from wildfires.
