Committee to monitor implementation of ‘Namo Drone Didi scheme’ in J&K

Jammu, May 20: A 19-member committee will implement and monitor the ‘Namo Drone Didi’ scheme in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per its terms of reference, the committee will select suitable clusters for drone use and members of the women self-help groups (SHGs) for training of drone pilot and drone assistant.

It has been tasked to assess drone usage, availability and existing gaps in districts and identify future requirements.

The committee will consist of the Administrative Secretary of the Agricultural Production Department as the chairman, while the Administrative Secretary of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department will consist of; Administrative Secretary, Cooperatives Department; Vice Chancellor SKUAST, Kashmir and Jammu; Registrar, Cooperatives; Director, Agriculture, Kashmir and Jammu; Director of Horticulture, Kashmir and Jammu; Director, Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir and Jammu; a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India (nominated by the concerned ministry); a representative of the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India (to be appointed by the concerned ministry); a representative of the Ministry of Fertilizers, Government of India (to be appointed by the concerned ministry); chairman UTLBC; Chief General Manager, NABARD and State Manager of Lead Fertilizer Company (IPL) will be the members.

MD, J&K Rural Livelihood Mission will be the member secretary.

“Sanction is hereby granted for the establishment of the Union Territory Level Committee (UTLC) comprising these officials for the effective implementation and monitoring of the ‘Namo Drone Didi Scheme’, in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the GAD order said.

The committee will undertake business and insurance for selected women SHGs in coordination with the Lead Fertilizer Companies (LFCs) and pesticide companies etc. It will select progressive women SHGs under DAY-NRLM in the Union Territory in the identified clusters for supplying drones .
