Scotts Bluff National Monument is hosting a guided hike in celebration of National Trails Day! – KCSR / KBPY


National Trails Day provides the perfect opportunity to join others in your community on a local trail.

Gering, NE – Join park ranger Eric Grunwald at Scotts Bluff National Monument on Saturday, June 1st for a fun 1.5-mile hike on the Saddle Rock Trail. Participants will meet at the monument’s visitor center at 9 a.m. We then take a shuttle to the top of Scotts Bluff for the hike. The hike includes a descent of 435 feet. Everyone is welcome! Participants must be able to walk 2.6 miles on an uneven, paved surface. Bring drinking water and a light snack. Plan a walk of 45 minutes to an hour. Registration is required. Register by calling the monument’s visitor center at 308-436-9700. No pets or strollers please.

The Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitor Center is currently open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Summit Road is open (weather and conditions permitting) from 9am to 4:30pm. Monuments and trails are open from sunrise to sunset. From next Saturday, May 25e, the monument transitions to summer hours. During the summer season, the Visitor Center is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and the Summit Road is open to motorized vehicles from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
