St. Clair County Community College is working with several area school districts to eliminate the step to enroll in SC4.

High school students are automatically admitted to SC4 without having to complete a college application. Eliminating the application step for high school graduates streamlines the transition from high school to college, including encouraging early access to scholarships, counseling and college services, according to SC4.

The districts included are Algonac Community Schools, Capac Community Schools, East China School District, Marysville Public Schools, Memphis Community Schools, Port Huron Area School District and Yale Public Schools.

Beginning with the high school graduating class of 2024, student data from each of the districts will be entered into the SC4 data system so that students can activate an SC4 account and immediately begin the enrollment steps for the fall 2024 college semester.

District superintendents said they were excited about the initiative and that it would make it easier for students to access higher education opportunities. SC4 President Kirk Kramer said every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, and the commitment of each district and SC4 is a positive example of collaboration in public education for families and students.

The SC4 automatic admission program is at no cost to the students or the school. Students are not required to register.

Letters of introduction and explanation of benefits were expected to be sent to graduates in early May, with a follow-up letter on how to activate the SC4 account. Students interested in enrolling in SC4 can email [email protected].
