CITYWIDE – MOUNT SINAI MEDICAL CENTER, which operates 11 freestanding joint venture centers in Brooklyn and the other boroughs has launched its new Center for Healthcare Readiness. The Center’s launch, which Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine announced on Monday, May 20, brings together a diverse team of academic and operational experts to advance the Mount Sinai Health System’s strategies and the U.S. healthcare industry’s ability to to prepare and respond to any problems. large-scale public health emergency. The Center will work with Mount Sinai’s own resources as well as public and private partners at the local, regional and federal levels, to pursue strategies in research, advocacy, innovation and collaboration to plan for future challenges. The Center recently hosted its first “The Future of Healthcare Preparedness Conference,” where top experts in the field devised ways to strengthen healthcare preparedness for the 21st century. Notable speakers from the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), and academia provided insights on emerging priorities across government, healthcare, and other sectors – including improving the nation’s healthcare during major health emergencies.

The conference also discussed opportunities to improve preparedness by fostering collaboration between private companies and the academic sector, and between the military and civilian sectors.
