Interference causes false alarms at Brookland schools

BROOKLAND, Ark. – Authorities are investigating after a false alarm about an active shooter caused panic in Brookland on Monday, according to a police news release.

On May 20, 2024 at approximately 8:56 a.m., Brookland Police responded to an active shooting at Brookland Middle School caused by the district’s RAVE Panic System.

Within seconds, officers arrived on scene and determined that the RAVE panic system was not functioning properly. No threat was located. All children, teachers and staff were safe.

Brookland PD is working closely with the Brookland School District regarding this incident, according to a media statement from Detective Dustin Norwood.
