FAM pledges $50,000 for CAF participants – Capital Radio Malawi

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) will pump $50,000 (over K85,000,000) to a local club participating in Confederation of African Football (CAF) competitions.

Association boss Fleetwood Haiya says for starters, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will get the money after their participation in the continental showpiece last year.

“We will support teams that qualify for the CAF. We are going to donate $50,000 to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets for representing Malawi last year and this will be the trend for all local teams participating in CAF every year,” Haiya revealed.

Meanwhile, Haiya has assured that the FA will also support the Ascent Soccer Academy, who will participate in the Cosafa Women’s Tournament later this year after winning the 2023 Goshen-FAM National Women’s Championship title.

“We will ensure that the ladies receive the necessary support when they play for Cosafa because they represent our country. If they qualify to go to the CAF, we will also continue because they make us proud,” the FA leader added.

Commenting on the development, Technical Director and Owner of Ntopwa Super Queens Isaac Jomo Osman thanked the FA leadership’s approach and said it will create fierce competition in the women’s game due to the support available.

Jomo whose team participated in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League/COSAFA Qualifiers said; “This announcement will encourage our girls and is very important for the football family. This is what we need.”
