Struthers, Ohio Priest Philip Rogers, will retire next month

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A local priest is retiring after years of service in the Diocese of Youngstown.

Father Philip Rogers will retire on July 1 after 44 years of service.


Most recently he was pastor of Christ the Redeemer Parish in Struthers, as well as the dean of Mahoning South Deanery.

He also served as pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Boardman from 2007 to 2022.

In addition, Rev. Raymond Thomas retired on May 1 after 52 years. Most recently he served as pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Ashtabula, Corpus Christi Parish in Conneaut, St. Andrew Bobola Parish in Sheffield and pastoral care at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Geneva. He was also dean of Ashtabula deanery.

The Diocese of Youngstown recently ordained the Rev. Kevin Bertleff as administrator of the newly merged St. John Neumann Parish, and the Rev. William Wainio as parochial vicar of St. Patrick Parish and University Parish Newman Center in Kent.
